What is Satin?

Satin fabric is referred to the finished product of a weaving technique, not the material itself. Satin is one of the three major textile weaves and there are many variations on what defines a satin weave.

Satin can contain one or more of the following materials: Silk, polyester, nylon.

Satin fabric is characterized by a soft, lustrous surface on one side, with a duller surface on the other side.

Satin vs Sateen: Sateen is a fabric made using the satin weave structure but made with spun yarns(cotton) instead of a single thread.

Satin vs Silk: Satin, again is the result of a weaving technique, and not the material. Silk, however, is a raw material produced by silkworms that is used to make fabric.

What are the benefits of wearing a satin scarf?

  • Moisture retention - Satin scarves don’t retain moisture directly, but they help to prevent moisture from being prematurely lost.

  • Hair protection - Satin scarves can help to protect the hair by acting as a cushion against harsh fibers that can be found in most pillowcases and bedsheets. Unprotected hair is prone to unwanted friction that can result in frizz, split ends, and breakage. The texture of our ultra-soft scarfs helps to preserve delicate kinks, curls, or waves for better-looking hair.
